Badminton School is flying high this summer with an excellent set of A Level results.  An impressive 25% of all grades awarded were A* with departments such as Further Maths achieving 75% A*A and 95% of the girls have achieved the university place of their choice. Excellent grades mean that students leaving Badminton can go on to pursue their dreams in a wide range of different spheres and can embark on a range of challenges at top universities.

Sarah from Wiltshire is off to read Fine Art at the University of Newcastle but she has plenty of other strings to her bow – a qualified helicopter pilot she has been actively involved in the Air Cadets and has been flying since 2014 with experience on fixed wing planes, gliders and helicopters. With her university grades now achieved, Sarah can now go on to fly higher than ever before!

Multi-talented Lauren from Yate has thrown herself into life at Badminton since she joined in Year 7.  She has written articles for the School magazine, played a leading role in the School’s Science Outreach programme and been a House Captain.  However, her true passion has always been for animals and their welfare.  She is now off to study Veterinary Science at the prestigious Royal Veterinary college and intends to return one day to the South West to work in dairy farms and to be near to her family.

Badminton Students also dare to be different – Head Girl Rebecca is passionate about Physics and Music and wanted to find a way to combine her diverse interests at university. She is delighted today to learn that she has won a place to study Physics and Music at Edinburgh University – one of the only places in the country that it is possible to do this combination. Speaking of her decision, she said, “The course I found at Edinburgh is a perfect fit for me and I am so thankful to everyone at Badminton for supporting me in every way possible through my two years here”.

Four Highflying Badminton students also fulfilled the requirements for their Oxbridge offers (in Law, Religion and Oriental Studies, Chinese and Natural Sciences). Dilyara, holder of a place at Cambridge to read Natural Sciences said, “I am so happy and relieved that all the hard work paid off. My four years at Badminton were truly some of the best years of my life and I am so grateful to the whole Badminton community for making my journey so fun and memorable.”

Badminton is incredibly proud of the achievements of all its pupils and Mrs Tear, Headmistress, said, “The girls are the inspiration for all that goes on at Badminton. It is exciting to work in a school where our history does not constrain us and we are always looking to develop the School, its offering (in a curricular and pastoral sense) and, of course, continue as lifelong learners ourselves. I am proud of the girls and their achievements and also of our great team of staff here for making it all possible.”
