Working with our partner Access Sport, we are committed to the urgent need to improve children and young people’s health and wellbeing.

COVID-19 caused the closure of all leisure facilities and whilst access to activity has been permitted outdoors from Monday 29 March and indoors (for Junior activity) from Monday 12 April, sadly many local facilities remain closed or inaccessible.

However, our Astro Pitch and Swimming Pool are back in use seven days a week, and so we look forward to the return of activity in the Sports Centre to join Juniors already participating in local Netball, Badminton and Fencing Clubs.  

Badminton is committed to its community and the important role it plays in providing access to high quality facilities, our Astro Pitch was available for zone bookings in the summer when all around were closed, enabling play in COVID-19 secure bubbles. Recent investment in our Outdoor Tennis Courts provides increased accessibility for Netball and Tennis Clubs.

Over 1,500 children a week, access leisure facilities at Badminton School for a wide variety of activities including Swimming lessons and coaching, Tennis matches, Hockey coaching, fitness sessions and more.

School holidays are busy with intensive sessions and we have also been pleased to recently welcome a new Tech Club at the Junior School with record numbers.

BRISTOL FALCONS BADMINTON CLUB

“Bristol Falcons Badminton Club are delighted to be able to return to our junior sessions on Sunday mornings and look forward to the resumption of the Wednesday sessions for both juniors and adults.

The School/Club partnership is important to Falcons BC to continue to provide quality sessions and coaching in a good facility which encourages and cares for sporting activities.

It is anticipated that we will be able to increase integration of our sessions with pupils from the School.”

BRISTOL PENGUINS

“It’s been great to restart swim coaching with Badminton pupils for curriculum and School team training sessions. This has been shortly followed by the Bristol Penguins pool and land-based programme and we’ve also benefited from some additional bookings in the School holidays.

Last week we were delighted to welcome a new Boarding pupil join the Club so she can supplement her School swimming with some additional club provision. No competitions for club or School yet, but we are doing inhouse time trials, distance badges and hopefully the excitement of competition will be upon us soon.

CROSSBOW NETBALL CLUB

“High 5 section of Crossbow Netball Club are delighted to be back training at Badminton School. The Club has already had access to the wonderful newly laid courts and the girls have been so excited to be back playing in such a fantastic environment.

The sporting opportunity that Badminton provides for over one hundred girls every week is invaluable to the local community.”

LITTLE FISH SWIMMING LESSONS

“We certainly have the largest waiting list we've ever had for both Term time and summer holiday lessons!

I feel quite sad that so many of our children would be swimming at least short distances without aids by now if we hadn't had all the COVID-19 disruptions.

However, we are very lucky to be able to use your Swimming Pool and we hope to get lots of children back in the water this summer ready for any holidays they may be allowed to take.”

REDLAND HOCKEY CLUB

“Redland Ladies Hockey Club were delighted to be welcomed back to Badminton School for their Club Day on Saturday 10th April.

The event was attended by an enthusiastic group of socially distanced members who were very grateful to be back on the pitch. Junior training started on Monday 19th April and has been attended weekly by over 50 young people. It's great to be back after a long COVID-19 interrupted winter. Many thanks to the school for reopening its doors!”
