On Wednesday 20th November, the rain held off long enough for Badminton School to officially unveil the Bristol Civic Society blue plaque commemorating Iris Murdoch's time at the school.

Members of the Bristol Civic Society spoke about how important the blue plaque scheme is to honour those that have made a contribution to the rich history of Bristol and we were delighted to have the Lord Mayor of Bristol perform the ceremony.

We were also joined by Mr Gould, former Headmaster of Badminton School, and his wife who were present when Iris Murdoch officially opened the Creative Arts Centre in 1994.  This gave a perfect symmetry to the event.

The plaque is mounted in a prominent position on the wall by the main gate to the School where many people walking or driving past will be able to see the link the School has with one of the last century's most influential writers.
