'Drugs'; An Alternative To Medicine"
On Thursday 3rd February, Amber Jones (nee Marson who attended Badminton from 1994-2001!) will be our special guest for our Inspiring Evenings talk in the PMH at 6.30pm. Amber studied Natural Sciences at Newnham College, Cambridge and 'majored' in Pharmacology.
Since leaving University, Amber has worked in the field of clinical drug development; starting out at a clinical trials unit based at Bourne Hall, Cambridgeshire (the birth place of IVF treatment) and moving to small and large biotech/pharmaceutical companies. Amber's area of expertise is running early phase clinical trials of new drugs, a subject that many more people are aware of thanks to a global pandemic! Amber is one of the founders of Imago BioSciences, a small, wholly virtual, US-based biotech company. For the last 8 years Imago have been developing a treatment for the rare bone cancers that are collectively known as myeloproliferative neoplasms.
Amber will be speaking on the subject of the alternative career paths for biological scientists (specifically clinical trials), what led her into clinical research and how do clinical trials take a drug from the lab bench to the pharmacy shelves.
